Rhoads Energy Awards Grant to Hope Rescue Mission

UPGRADE WILL MAKE SHELTER MORE ACCESSIBLE TO THOSE WITH DISABILITIES

The Rhoads Energy Family of Companies, a regional energy and HVAC services leader and parent to E.G. Smith Inc., has added another chapter to its century-long story of community involvement.

Through its charitable Legacy Fund, Rhoads has made a donation to Hope Rescue Mission. Hope Rescue Mission, is a Reading-based group that serves persons who are experiencing homeless.

With the grant, a cash donation of $4,000 and an in-kind gift of $800 from New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Hope Rescue Mission will demolish an existing ramp and build a new, ADA-accessible ramp to the chapel of the men’s shelter.

Since 1894, Hope Rescue Mission has been providing for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the homeless people of Berks County. The organization shares the life-changing message of the Gospel with the hope of seeing them restored to a productive life.

“For more than 100 years, community support has been a core value at The Rhoads Energy Family of Companies,” said Michael DeBerdine III, CEO of Rhoads. “Our entire team is proud to offer assistance to this vital organization, which does so much good for so many in Reading.” DeBerdine added that he hopes the grants will be a catalyst for further support for Hope Rescue Mission in the community.
