Rhoads Energy Donates Appliances to Hannah’s Hope

The Rhoads Energy Family of Companies, an employee-owned energy and HVAC services leader, recently donated appliances to Hannah’s Hope Ministries (HHM). HHM is a Reading-based organization that offers transitional housing and skills training for women and children who are homeless.

HHM provides a nurturing, wholesome environment that includes six suites, one per family. But the facility was in need of additional appliances — and replacements for badly outdated ones. In response to a request from HHM, Rhoads purchased and delivered two new refrigerators, a new cooking range and two clothes washers.  Martin Appliances, which supplied the new equipment, offered a 25% discount off the purchase price.

Technicians from Cool Crew, Rhoads Energy’s regional HVAC service division, installed the appliances and volunteered to remove and install a new kitchen countertop.

“The service of our heating system and new appliances has been life changing for both the residents and staff,” said Joy Kessock, HHM’s Program Manager. “We are very grateful to Rhoads Energy for making all this happen.”

The contribution was the latest made by the Rhoads Energy Family of Companies Legacy Fund. The Fund was created to support the organization’s charitable efforts in Southcentral Pennsylvania.

“Hannah’s Hope offers a unique program that boosts women and children, helping them transition to a more prosperous life,” said Michael DeBerdine III, Rhoads CEO. “We hope our donation will encourage others to support this vital community resource.”

The Rhoads Legacy Fund makes donations based on recommendations and decisions by a committee staffed with Rhoads employees. The Legacy Fund is the most recent example of Rhoads Energy’s commitment to community service over its 104-year history.
