Rhoads Energy Donates Laptops to Parkesburg Point

The Rhoads Energy Family of Companies, a regional energy and HVAC services leader that has served Chester County for over a century, announced it has made a donation of 10 laptops to The POINT. The POINT is a Parkesburg-based nonprofit that works to address the needs of at-risk students.

The POINT’S 300+ volunteers support programs that provide tutoring, social-emotional support, and childcare for working parents. The organization will use the laptops to assist individuals who need support with academic tutoring and workforce development.

“With school work increasingly done on laptops and computers, some students inevitably will be left behind,” said Dwayne Walton, Executive Director of The Point. “Through the generosity of Rhoads Energy, we are able to offer brand new laptops for use in our in-person and remote tutoring programs, which serve more than 300 students.”

The contribution was the latest made by the Rhoads Energy Family of Companies Legacy Fund, which was created to support the organization’s charitable efforts in Southcentral Pennsylvania.

“The POINT has been doing vital work in the area since 2003, and we are very pleased we can help bolster those efforts,” said Michael DeBerdine III, Rhoads CEO. “We hope our donation will encourage others to consider giving their time and resources to this worthy community program.”

The Rhoads Legacy Fund makes donations based on recommendations and decisions by a committee staffed with Rhoads employees. The Legacy Fund is the most recent example of Rhoads Energy’s commitment to community service over its 104-year history.

Rhoads and its affiliates offer heating oil and propane delivery, natural gas, HVAC repair and installation, commercial and fleet energy services, among other offerings.
