Rhoads Energy to Sponsor Historical Programming at Rock Ford Plantation

Rhoads Energy, a full-service energy company based in Lancaster, announced today that it will be a Supporting Season Sponsor for Rock Ford Plantation’s 2015 programming season. The historical site, the carefully maintained home of Revolutionary War General Edward Hand, is dedicated to educating the community about life during the 18th century.

The sponsorship grew out of the relation Rhoads Energy built with Rock Ford during a project to retrofit the Plantation’s barn with a new HVAC system in 2012.

“Rock Ford is particularly pleased to be able to partner with Rhoads as a Supporting Season Sponsor,” said Samuel Slaymaker, Rock Ford Plantation Executive Director. “In designing and installing our HVAC system, Rhoads demonstrated sensitivity to the special needs and challenges related to installing a modern system in an 18th century structure that is used for both special events and for the exhibition of collections.”

The Plantation’s programming includes “Second Sunday” Living History events focusing upon such topics as courtship and marriage, gardening and the birth and raising of children in 18th Century Pennsylvania.  Programming also includes fun, interactive tours for school-age children, Early American Tavern Nights in the Rock Ford Barn, Yuletide Tours in December, and the production of the one-act play, “Sleepy Hollow: The Legend Comes to Rock Ford.”

In addition to its support of the Rock Ford Plantation, Rhoads Energy supports dozens of local and regional organizations, including The United Way, Water Street Rescue Mission, American Heart Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters and others.
