The groundbreaking ceremony included remarks from local officials, project partners, and Rhoads Energy leadership, marking a shared commitment to expanding renewable fuel infrastructure in the region.

Expanding access to cleaner, renewable fuel for our region

Rhoads Energy has officially broken ground on new biofuel infrastructure that will expand access to cleaner, renewable fuel across Central and Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Located at our Red Rose Midstream facility in Rapho Township, this new biodiesel terminal marks an important step forward in how we source, distribute, and deliver more sustainable energy solutions to the communities we serve.

What This New Facility Means

The new infrastructure—scheduled to be operational in late July—will allow 100% biodiesel to be delivered by rail

and transferred directly to our delivery trucks.

That may sound like a behind-the-scenes improvement, but for our customers, it delivers real, tangible benefits.

Why This Matters for Our Customers

More Reliable, Cost-Effective Fuel Supply

Today, much of the region’s biodiesel is transported long distances by truck. By bringing rail delivery directly to our facility, we can

improve supply reliability and reduce transportation costs—helping us maintain consistent service and long-term value for our customers.

Expanding the Use of Cleaner Energy

This investment supports the continued growth of Bioheating Oil—our standard heating oil blended with renewable biodiesel.

As more homes and businesses transition to cleaner-burning fuel, the environmental benefits multiply across our region.

Better Performance for Your Home

Bioheating oil doesn’t just burn cleaner—it works smarter:

  • Helps improve heating system efficiency
  • Reduces buildup inside equipment
  • Supports longer system lifespan
  • Lowers the likelihood of fuel-related service issues

It’s a simple upgrade that delivers both environmental and performance benefits.

Supporting Our Commitment to Renewable Energy

“Our new biodiesel facility is part of Rhoads Energy’s ongoing investment in renewable fuels,” said Michael DeBerdine. “This terminal gives us greater control over our fuel supply while helping reduce costs and expand access to cleaner energy for our customers and our region.”

Built for the Future

The project includes full site development, roadway access, and new pumping systems designed to support efficient fuel handling and long-term growth. Construction is supported in part by a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture.
